Resin art woes

You gather your inclusions. Ensure your resin is at the proper mixing temperatures. You sit down with all of your protective gear on and begin to mix.

The pour is perfect. Inclusions stayed exactly where you placed them and no bubbles. You feel there’s been plenty of set time so you step away.

Time to unveil the masterpiece! OH NO!!! Uncovered is a bubble filled item that may or may not have had a partial flash cure, but for certain items have moved and are no longer in place! Now what!?!

To me, this medium is an ever learning, always challenging form of art. When making the decision to sell or scrap I look over it all and determine if the bubbles are too big and interrupt the product form/function. If not then the piece is still worth the sale.

In my sales I list my pieces as one of a kind. I would never be able to replicate an item the same, even when pouring multiple items of the same design at once although that is the closest to same as I can get). While I am the hardest critic of my work I have made sure to incorporate the imperfections and embrace them in my art. At the end of this all that is what makes art unique.

Where it began

It all begins with an idea.

I have always had an interest in creating with Epoxy Resin. About a year and a half ago my friend wanted to do one of those group events for her birthday so we set up a group, got an instructor and began making a mess. I had so many questions and wanted to learn so much. I also wanted to keep trying to make new items. I found myself addicted to the next craft!

Now, here I am with my business, continuing to learn and follow some amazing artists as I just cant get enough.

Are you interested in creating with epoxy resin? Here are some great tips and I hope to share some videos in our future blogs that will share the trials and tribulations…

So, you're interested in trying your hand at epoxy resin crafts. Congratulations on taking the first step into this exciting world of creativity and endless possibilities! Working with epoxy resin can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it's important to start off on the right foot to ensure successful outcomes with your projects.

Here are a few tips for beginners diving into epoxy resin crafts:

  1. Choose the Right Workspace: Set up your workspace in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Make sure to protect your working surface with a plastic tablecloth or silicone mat to prevent any spills or stains (I use both, and during my busy times I even cover my floor).

  2. Gather Essential Supplies: Apart from epoxy resin, you'll need measuring cups, mixing sticks, gloves, molds, and a heat gun or torch for removing air bubbles. Ensure that all your supplies are clean and ready to use. Making sure you have everything ready before you begin is a huge help.

  3. Follow Instructions Carefully: Read the manufacturer's instructions on the epoxy resin kit thoroughly before starting. Proper measuring and mixing ratios are crucial for the resin to cure correctly. Remember that each manufacture could have different instructions for proper proportions. It is the most valuable lesson to learn to ensure your project cures. Also, make sure you do not mix brands or different types of resin as this can cause flash cure or even more dangerous situations.

  4. Start with Small Projects: It's advisable to begin with small and simple projects like coasters or jewelry to familiarize yourself with the resin's behavior and curing process.

  5. Experiment and Have Fun: Epoxy resin crafting is all about experimentation and creativity. Don't be afraid to try new techniques, colors, or additives to achieve unique effects in your creations. Some of my biggest “mistakes” were my best sellers.

Remember, practice makes perfect in the world of epoxy resin crafts. Be patient with yourself, embrace the learning process, and enjoy the journey of creating beautiful and personalized resin pieces. Happy crafting!

Blog Post Title Four

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
